We now offer treatment via HIPAA-compliant Zoom to provide care to our patients, regardless of their location. Some mental health disorders are better treated in-person, as such, the office is open on an as-needed basis.

Yassar Kanawati, M.D.
Child/Adolescent/Adult/Addiction Psychiatrist
Dr. Yassar Kanawati is Board Certified in General Psychiatry and Neurology and Board Certified in Addiction Medicine and has completed fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Dr. Kanawati was the Medical Director and Senior Manager at The Devereux Georgia Treatment Center from 2000 to 2007. She had been the Medical Director and Supervisor at the Family Intervention Specialists in Hiram, Georgia from 2007 until July 2014 and had also a private practice at the Atlanta Area Family Psychiatry Clinic since 2002 as an independent contractor. She continues to be an Adjunct Clinical Professor and Clinical Adviser, Department of Psychiatry- Morehouse School of Medicine since 2001.She is a member of the Medical Association, The American Psychiatric Association, The Georgia Physicians Associations, and recently was a speaker at the GPPA winter meeting.
Dr. Kanawati graduated from the University of Damascus Medical School in 1988. She has received a Diploma in General Psychiatry from the Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris France 1989-1990. After relocating to the United States she completed Residency in Psychiatry and Fellowship in Child Psychiatry at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan 1993-1998.
Dr. Yassar Kanawati was a permanent staff member at Piedmont Hospital and a consultant at the Liver Transplant unit at Piedmont Hospital.
Dr. Kanawati specializes in treating ADHD (Attention-deficit-hyperactivity-disorder), Depression, Bipolar disorders, PTSD (post-traumatic-stress-disorder), and many other psychological disorders.
